Carrying out customer's request
Currently, Mr D.D.T, who has 4 years of studying Computer Science in New Zealand, has been a programmer working at a technology company located in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District. He said that technology has constantly changed, leading to the quickly obsolete of knowledge. Therefore, programmers must learn continuously, otherwise, their expertise will fall into disuse. In general, a programmer has regularly been under pressure as the software industry requires on-time completion, and high agility to address problems being always "waiting" to arise.
“If you take a day off, you will have to deal with a huge amount of work on the following day. Most people think that a programmer must be creative, but I insist that creativity is not for this profession. We do not have the right to change the idea and must follow the customer’s request”, Mr T. shared
Ms Dinh Quynh Anh, a business analyst cum Korean translator at FPT Software based in Da Nang, said that she wasn’t keen on this job at first, but she found it interesting and started to love it after approaching and learning more technical knowledge. The job is absolutely stressful as it requires a balance between the needs of all parties and the best satisfying solution. There are days when something goes wrong, it's normal to work overtime. Therefore, it is necessary to have good health, flexibility and agility when choosing this profession.
Frequently facing deadlines
As shared by Ms Nguyen Thu Ha, who has 3 years in charge of Computer Graphics at PR Video24 Software Technology Company, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, although she has to deal with stressful work, plenty of 10-hour working days and deadlines, her love for technology has driven her to overcome fatigue. Furthermore, women in her company have held numerous significant positions and been given equal development opportunities. “Whether you are male or female, if you are strongly passionate, dynamic and progressive, you will work well in all fields," shared Ms Ha.
Mr Vu Quang Huy, working as a system administrator at the Da Nang Information Technology Infrastructure Development Center in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District. His job includes the task of setting up and maintaining the network system, computer hardware, system software, application software, and all other configurations at the centre.
“The biggest pressure of my job is to ensure the system runs smoothly and stably. However, new system upgrades or bug fixes must be done at night or on weekends because the traffic is low at this time, leading to little impact on customer operations. I don't have much difficulty or pressure because I work in the profession I love. I can do the research during the nighttime to find the reason for the system failure, and the work collision also helps me to discover new things,” said Mr Huy.
All in all, IT has currently been a special and fast-growing industry, which is the foundation for many economic sectors and offers numerous job opportunities. People working in this industry are also exceptional since they are mainly exposed to computers and technical specifications around the clock. “A programmer is like an orchestra conductor of programming code to create a perfect piece of music which is computer software,” said Mr D.D.T.
