The Software Freedom Day - SFD 2022 recently took place in Da Nang, Ha Noi and Can Tho.

Themed ‘Open source for digital life’, the event was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Free and Open Source Software Association (VFOSSA), the Viet Nam - South Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) - the University of Da Nang, the University of Phennikaa and the University of Can Tho.

During the event, open source software experts shared their best practices and successful start-up examples, thereby providing a perspective on the application of free and open source software in the world in such fields as blockchain, IoT, AI, Big Data and Cloud Computing technologies with specific applications related to smart cities, smart agriculture, production and distribution of products, goods and services .

In Da Nang, more than 300 university students citywide were guided to develop basic webs by experts from the FPT Software Central Region and Enouvo companies.

Software Freedom Day (SFD) is an annual worldwide celebration of Free Software. SFD is a public education effort with the aim of increasing awareness of Free Software and its virtues, and encouraging its use.

Software Freedom Day was established in 2004 and was first observed on 28 August of that year. About 12 teams participated in the first Software Freedom Day. Since that time it has grown in popularity and every year we have more than 300 events organized by over 100 cities from the world.
