Da Nang attracts investment in education
Under the Politburo-approved Resolution No. 43 regarding its progress to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang targets to turn itself into one of the major socio-economic hubs in the country and Southeast Asia as a whole, featuring a vital role in education and training.
Many domestic enterprises have successfully invested in the field of education and training. The FPT Corporation is a typical example as it offers inter-level training system. IN THE PHOTO: The FPT University is located in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District. Photo: TRIEU TUNG |
Building an academic ecosystem
With the desire to create a knowledge-academic ecosystem in Da Nang and the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions, the city has issued a number of policies for developing educational infrastructure, and has prepared land fund for calling for investment in high-quality, international-standard education projects in the locality.
Under its planning orientations to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the city aims to become a hub for developing high-quality labor resources.
Accordingly, top priority will be given to training key occupations such as electronics and telecommunications, biotechnology and mechanics engineering; information technology and communications; pharmacy; tourism; and finance - banking.
A huge surge in demand for high-quality, international-standard curricula among students and their parents in Da Nang and neighbouring localities, and foreign expats, opens up many opportunities for investors in the field of education and training.
In addition to a thriving public education system, the city is now house to more than 9 international schools at all levels, from kindergarten to primary, secondary and high schools and universities. Included are the APU American International School, the Singapore International School, the University of Greenwich , the Viet Nam - UK Research and Training Institute, and the Fuji Infinity International Kindergarten. These are offering high quality, bilingual, and international curricula.
With its improved training facilities, Da Nang boasts a great potential for promoting the development of education and training not only within the city but also for neighbouring provinces.
Currently, the city has a population of about 1,195,490 people with an annual population growth rate of 2.22%. The population under 24 years old reaches nearly 500,000 people, accounting for 40% of the city's total.
It is forecasted that by 2030, Da Nang's population will reach more than 1.5 million people with a population growth rate of 2.95%.
At present, the number of students studying at all levels from preschool to high school is more than 270,000, of which primary school students accounted for the majority with nearly 110,000. In addition, recent years have witnessed a significant increase in the number of foreign expats living and working in the city, so the study needs of foreign children in Da Nang are also high.
Advantages of investing in international education in Da Nang
Over the past time, Da Nang has implemented many solutions to build a favourable investment and business environment for businesses and investors, as well as optimal living conditions for residents.
Mrs Huynh Lien Phuong, the Director of the city’s Investment Promotion and Support Centre, remarked the municipal government is committed to improving the investment and business environment and mechanisms in a dynamic and efficient manner.
On the other hand, the city has issued many programmes to support businesses and investors in the process of establishing and expanding projects in the city, as well as regularly reformed administrative procedures, simplified the process of granting investment registration certificates and business registration certificates.
Currently, Da Nang is not only a potential investment destination for domestic and foreign investors in general, and but also a potential destination for high-quality education investment in particular with many opportunities and advantages.
In the city, there is an impressive increase in the demand and ability to pay tuition fees for high-quality education as well as the trend of choosing schools for children is having a significant shift.
Specifically, in recent years, the city's demand for private schools has increased sharply when the number of students enrolled in private schools in 2020 reached 8,445 students, doubling that in 2016 and 3 times higher than that in 2012.
Moreover, parents are tending to choose city-based international schools with equivalent quality and qualifications instead of letting their children study abroad. The main reason is thought to be that the tuition fee at an international school in the city accounts for only 40% of that at educational institutions abroad.
Therefore, the construction of high-quality educational institutions in the city not only meets the needs of students in Da Nang but also neighbouring provinces, along with that of the expat community coming to work and settle in the city.
