Knowledge contest about homeland's sea and islands attracts a large number of pupils

A knowledge contest entitled ‘I love my homeland’s sea and islands’ 2022 took place in Da Nang’s Lien Chieu District on Sunday.

Co-organised by the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Zone 2 and the municipal Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Commission, the contest attracted 80 typical pupils from 8 junior high schools across the district.

Its aim was to improve the understanding of the country’s sea and islands, Party and State-issued documents related to Viet Nam’s sovereignty over its sea and islands, the Law on the Sea of ​​Viet Nam in 2012, the Law on Viet Nam Coast Guard in 2018, and tradition of the Viet Nam Coast Guard, among pupils and teachers.

Within the framework of the contest, the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Zone 2 presented 32 bicycles and 80 scholarships to poor studious pupils.

Earlier, on October 15, the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Zone 2 coordinated with the Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Commission to widely publicise Viet Nam's efforts to fight illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing among representatives of more than 120 fishing families in Lien Chieu District.

During the event, the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Zone 2 awarded 120 gifts, valued at VND1 million each, to social policy households and fishermen in extremely difficult circumstances in the district.

In addition, the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Zone 2 visited and gave financial support, worth VND 2million, to the families whose relatives died of drowning due to recent torrential rain-triggered flooding in the city.
