University of Da Nang's project granted with patent by USPTO
The ‘Smart optical communications for extremely large data networks’ project conducted by a research group of the University of Da Nang has got patent protection from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The group members are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Hung from the Institute of Advanced Science and Technology and Dr. Le Thai Son from the Da Nang University of Science and Technology.
Implemented in September 2019, the project aims to design and develop a smart optical communication system with extremely large data transmission capacity of 10¹² bit/s for the future internet.
Till date, the project has developed advanced techniques to detect and overcome factors that degrade system quality, including linear and nonlinear signal distortions, thereby helping to overcome nonlinear shannon limits on information transmission capacity. It has achieved scientific publications in leading specialized journals and conferences in the field of fiber optic communications.
With an internationally protected patent, in the coming time, the research team will continue to move to the research and development (R&D) phase to perfect and put the product into practical application.
