Co-organised by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (AUSTRADE) and the Da Nang People’s Committee, the event aimed to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam - Australia diplomatic relations (February 26, 1973 - February 26, 2023).

During the seminar, Deputy Consul General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City cum Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner of AUSTRADE Rebecca Ball informed the participants about her country’s culture, cuisine and education.

Mrs. Rebecca Ball emphasised that eight Australian educational agencies are implementing cooperation programmes in Da Nang. She hoped that Australia and Da Nang will continue to promote cooperation in the field of education in the coming time.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hanh highlighted that the seminar provided the good opportunity for the city and Australian localities to expand cooperation in the field of agricultural, food export, and education, especially promote the friendly cooperative relationship between the two sides.

Till date, 15 businesses in Da Nang have set up trade relations with Australia. The city has attracted 29 Australian-invested projects totalling US$13.9 million.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son, who is Vice President of the University of Da Nang (UD), remarked that UD always considered Australia a leading important partner in its international cooperation strategy. UD has more than 200 staff and lecturers who have been trained and joined long-term and short-term exchange activities in Australia.

In particular, the University of Queensland has accompanied UD in the English Language Institute and TRIG projects, contributing to enhancing capacity for, and training a large number of, UD’s staff and lecturers.

After the plenary session, the seminar featured two discussion sessions about education and food agriculture.

At the education session, Australia's leading universities and academic institutions introduced their professional competence to Vietnamese educational institutions, thereby opening up opportunities for educational linkages, student recruitment and new trade partnership.

Meanwhile, Australian and Vietnamese businesses sought trade cooperation opportunities during the food agriculture session.
