Phan Nam Hoang, a highly professional specialist from Technical and Technology Department of the Da Nang Port JSC, and Phung Chi Trung, Engineer of the Automation Department of the Central Electrical Experiment One Member Co., Ltd, have been honoured with the national ‘Good Young Worker’ Award 2023.

Promoting effective initiatives

Phan Nam Hoang was born and raised in Dai Thang Commune, Dai Loc District, Quang Nam Province. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Science and Technology under the University of Da Nang.

Since he worked for the Da Nang Port in 2016, Hoang has been assigned the task of technical management of vehicles and equipment to meet the needs of cargo exploitation.

In response to the Viet Nam National Shipping Lines-launched movement on promoting innovation and digital transformation, Hoang has till date implemented 14 effective solutions and initiatives, benefiting billions of VND for the Da Nang Port. Notably, his initiative "Automatic fuel station - fuel management system 4.0" was applied at the Tien Sa Port in 2020.

Since it was put into operation, the system has helped to avoid fraud and fuel loss, reduce maintenance and repair costs, and form a centralised fuel management system through the internet. The initiative won the second prize at the 16^th Da Nang Science and Technology Innovation Contest in 2021.

In addition, the initiative "Design and manufacture equipment for volumetric measurement and remote monitoring of fuel tanks at the Tien Sa Port factory" which has been implemented by Hoang since 2019 helps reduce work time, as well as contributes to saving more than 50,000 litres of gas per quarter.

Thanks to his continuous creative efforts, Phan Nam Hoang has won the title of "Emulation Fighter" 5 times in a row at the company, and received many Certificates of Merit from the Maritime Corporation, the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, and Chairman of the municipal People's Committee.

Applying digital transformation to company activities

In 2014, with a degree in electrical engineering, a young man hailing from Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, Phung Chi Trung was recruited to work at the Automation Department of the Central Electrical Experiment One Member Co., Ltd.

Currently, Chi Trung is assigned to train and develop internal human resources, and at the same time, conduct research about automation solutions at power plants.

He is one of the outstanding employees with many typical initiatives and plans. Over the past 10 years, the 33-year-old young man has had 6 outstanding initiatives, all which have been put into practice, positively contributing to ensuring safety at work and saving labour and time at the unit.

Among them, the most highlight is the software on managing centralised database, and automatically processing and exporting SCADA test reports.

Chi Trung underlined the efficiency of the software in improving database storage, and giving easy access to manage, search and re-issue minutes to investors when required.

The software is highly appreciated by the company's leaders because it is suitable for the unit’s digitisation and digital transformation roadmap.

Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union cum Chairman of the municipal Youth Federation Nguyen Ba Duan said that the national ‘Good Young Worker’ Awards are worthy awards for Phung Chi Trung and Phan Nam Hoang in recognition of their initiatives and creative solutions which are successfully applied in practice, bringing economic and social benefits to their companies and the city as a whole.
