A workshop on connecting the UK and Da Nang about digitisation and innovation in healthcare field took place in the city on Thursday.

Co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Health, the British Embassy in Viet Nam, the Embassy of Northern Ireland in Viet Nam and the Ministry of Health, the event saw the participation of healthcare businesses from the UK.

The event aimed to boost cooperation between the UK and Da Nang healthcare service providers with a focus on projects involved in artificial intelligence, electronic health records, and cancer diagnosis, thereby contributing to tightening the relationships between Da Nang and the UK, and Viet Nam and the UK as a whole.

Digital transformation in healthcare field is the application of information technology in a comprehensive way in order to fundamentally change medical examination and treatment method from direct to online, and at the same time positively change all activities of the medical sector, such as leadership, management, administration, service, and working environment for medical staff.

In Da Nang, digital transformation is identified as the key to building a smart city. The municipal government has issued the Digital Transformation Project in the city until 2025, with a vision towards 2030, and a project on building Da Nang into a smart city in the 2022-2025 period.

For the health sector, on the basis of the digital transformation orientation of the Ministry of Health and the municipal People's Committee, the city's health sector has identified digital transformation as a key task in State management and organisation of non-business activities, as well as create favourable conditions for organisations and individuals of all economic sectors operating in the field of health in the city.

Over recent years, Da Nang and the UK have gained fruitful results from cooperation programmes and projects in the fields of education, healthcare, and social security. 2023 is an important milestone marking the 50^th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-the UK diplomatic ties.
