Many primary schools in Da Nang came alive on Monday as first graders were welcomed for the 2023-2024 academic year after the summer vacation.

As noted, on the first day of school, first graders mainly got acquainted with the schools, and their teachers and friends. They also had their first experience of life in the classroom such as getting used to greetings, queuing, and using personal school and classroom supplies. This created the best mood and habits for them to enter the new school year.

In the following days, teachers will continue to recheck textbooks, school supplies and writing posture, as well as remind the time and routine of going to school when pupils enter the new school year.

Moreover, all primary schools had classrooms decorated, and organised some fun and exciting activities on the first day of school.

According to the municipal Department of Education and Training, in the 2023-2024 school year, about 21,359 pupils are expected to enter grade 1. Based on the city's 2022-2023 school year time frame, primary schools welcomed first graders at the earliest on August 24.

The opening ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year is slated to be held on the morning of September 5 at all schools citywide with a time of no more than 45 minutes. After the opening ceremony, all schools will hold regular classes.
