A talk show entitled ‘Digital transformation in building new-style rural areas, towards smart rural areas in the 2021- 2025 period’ took place in Da Nang on Tuesday.

In his remarks at the talk show, Da Nang People's Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that Da Nang identified digital transformation as a driving force of development, and an important key to concretise the goal of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo (term XII), and the Resolution adopted at the 22^nd Congress of the Da Nang municipal Party Committee.

He added that digital transformation in general, and in the building of new-style rural areas in particular, towards building smart rural areas, was a continuous and long-term journey going through many stages of growth and development. Digital transformation is not only the application of information technology to the activities of agencies and units, but the most important thing is the transformation of awareness, action, and the formation of digital citizens, a digital government, and a digital society.

Mr. Triet stressed the need for the municipal government, the business community, and the general population, to make every effort and take drastic actions to boost digital transformation in new-style rural area construction.

Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Viet Nam War Veterans' Association, highlighted the particularly important role of digital transformation in restructuring the agricultural sector; developing concentrated commodity rural areas towards modernity, high added value and sustainability; affirming the ‘supporting’ role of the economy; and becoming ‘a measure of the level of national sustainability’.

Digital transformation in rural agriculture is an important solution to help farmers and businesses produce quality agricultural products with the lowest cost, but achieve the highest profit, thereby contributing to accelerating the proportion of digital agriculture in production connection, processing, markets and digital economy chains, he noted.

Mr. Truong affirmed that the purpose of the talk show was to share experience and raise awareness about digital transformation in new-style rural area construction, as well as show the companionship of the association and the Party committees and local authorities at all levels to well implement the national digital transformation programme.
