Ensuring enough textbooks for poor pupils in new academic year

Schools across Da Nang have made great efforts to ensure that no pupils lacks textbooks in the academic year with a focus on providing poor pupils with support in many different forms .

During this summer, the Hoa Bac Primary School in Hoa Vang District connected with local businesses and sponsors to provide essential learning tools for needy students.

Mr. Nguyen Tho, the school's principal said that the school has already received 34 sets of textbooks for first and second graders who are Co Tu ethnic minority people. Besides, the school's disadvantaged students have been given school uniforms, financial assistance, and more.

"Thanks to many sources of support, all pupils of the school have enough textbooks for the new accademic year," Mr. Tho remarked..

In a similar move, Mr. Nguyen Hy, the Principal of the Duy Tan Primary School in Lien Chieu District, said that the school has sent a list of students who come from poor households to the District Division of Education and Training to ask for textbooks support. In addition, the school called for financial support from benefactors to buy textbooks for students who encounter unexpected difficulties. Till date, the school has received about 10 sets of textbooks for first to fifth grade students from benefactors and parents of its students.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lich, the Head of the Lien Chieu District Division of Education and Training, there are quite a large number of children of workers and low-income earners in the district. Therefore, in addition to the 225 sets of textbooks distributed by the municipal Department of Education and Training under the book donation program called " Give you the strength to continue to pursue your academic dreams", the district Division of Education and Training has called for funds to donate 100 sets of textbooks for poor students.

Right from the start of the 2022-2023 academic year, teachers at schools across the city have encouraged their students to keep their textbooks clean so that they could donate their used textbooks for those in need at the end of the school year. After receiving textbooks from benefactors, students' parents, schools will identify students who need help to donate these books.

The Hoang Hoa Tham Senior High School received 30 sets of used textbooks for 10th grade students to donate poor students when they enter the new school year.

According to Mr. Dang Ngoc Lam, the Principal of Le Hong Phong Junior High School in Hai Chau District, although many families are living under especially difficult circumstances, they try to buy enough textbooks for their children before entering the new school year. Therefore, the school will donate textbooks for students from these families in order to help them set aside money for other expenses for their children at the start of the school year.

The Da Nang Department of Education and Training said that the Viet Nam Education Publishing House has donated 2,009 sets of textbooks worth more than VND 467 million in total for poor and disadvantaged students in the city under the 2023 book donation program called " Give you the strength to continue to pursue your academic dreams".

Furthermore, the Viet Nam Education Publishing House also donated 2,040 sets of textbooks totaling more than VND 316 million to 17 shared bookcases of disadvantaged schools across the city, in order to ensure that all students have enough textbooks in the new school year, as well as create learning and teaching resources for students and teachers to use in their school libraries.
