On August 11, the members of the OIK DREAM team from the Ong Ich Khiem Senior High School went to the gymnasium of Le Quy Don school where the competition will be held to get familiar with the competition ground.

Tran Xuan Bao Uyen, the captain of the OIK DREAM team, said that in order to prepare for the competition, over the past few months, the members had come up with ideas and started building up robots.

After many tests, it was not until the robot was built for the sixth time that the OIK DREAM team was really satisfied. However, when actually testing at the field, the OIK DREAM team still found that the robot still had some limitations in terms of picking blocks and completion time as well.

Therefore, in the coming days, the team will continue to adjust the robot to achieve the best results. “It was quite far from the school to the competition site so we decided to arrive at the site a few days in advance to assemble the robot and get used to the competition ground. These days, we have stayed at the gymnasium to facilitate the completion of our robot products,” said Yen.

Meanwhile, in the hall of Hermann Gmeiner Senior High School, the preparations are recording an exciting vibe. As the champion of last year's contest, competing at this year’s competition, the two participating teams, Hermann Enchantix and Hermann Challenger, now show their quite high determination.

According to Mr. Huynh Mai Thuan, a teacher of Physics and Technology at the Hermann Gmeiner Senior High School, as soon as the organisers launched the contest in March, the school developed a specific plan. In April, the school selected a number of students from last year's competition team and talented newcomers soon showing good qualities in science and technology.

“Our teachers and students are fully aware of the requirements of the contest and chose the implementation plan. To create robot products, we also constantly changed the plan, taking advantage of the knowledge we have learned and researched to create the simplest motion and structure for the robot that still perform the tasks the exam requires.,” said Mr. Thuan.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Anh, the captain of the Hermann Enchantix team, said that the experience gained from last year's competition has helped her and the team members confidently enter this year's competition. This is a very useful playground for students, especially those who are passionate about assembling and manufacturing, thus helping students increase their creativity, learn new knowledge and enhance teamwork skills. At this point, Tuyet Anh and friends are now ready to enter the competition.

Participating in this open Robotics Competition for Senior High School Students in Da Nang this time, in addition to 14 teams from senior high schools in Da Nang, there are 5 others from neighbouring Quang Nam Province and another one from neighbouring Thua Thien Hue Province.

Dang Minh Hieu, a member of Team NT-C2BG from Nui Thanh Senior High School in Quang Nam Province said that his team arrived in Da Nang one week before the competition day for more practice sessions in a bid to get the best possible performance.

According to Hieu, the preparation for the contest was carried out by the school early, and especially, the competition team received great support from students of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology.

“The university students have come to the school to guide us and then support us through social networks. These days, we mainly focus on fixing bugs and improving robots. With the spirit of coming to the competition for exchanges, we are quite happy and comfortable", Hieu shared.

The Open Robotics Competition for Senior High School Students in Da Nang was born naturally from their creative needs and passions in 2013 as a joint coordination by the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ho Nghinh Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Fund. Fully aware of a fact that this is a useful playground, an intellectual sport for senior high school students during the summer vacation, attracting the participation of a large number of students, in 2016, the Da Nang People's Committee officially allowed the annual organisation of this contest.
