Activate the role of education and training

According to Plan No. 193/KH-UBND dated November 7, 2022 issued by the municipal People's Committee on human resource development for digital transformation to 2025, the development of human resources starts from 4 groups of subjects: government agencies, technology enterprises and enterprises using digital technology, educational and training institutions, and in the social community.

According to the municipal Department of Information and Communications, 100% of universities in the city have focused on implementing and perfecting the digital transformation model (digital management, digital data warehouse, online teaching, online enrollment, online exam, online library, and e-school records). Also, 100% of general education institutions have deployed the education industry database and school management software. Each student has an ID code associated with the electronic school record.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training Tran Nguyen Minh Thanh said that in order to bring digital transformation closer to students, the city's education and training sector is promoting STEM education, an education model specialising in science, technology, engineering and Maths.

Accordingly, the department is developing an international standard STEM curriculum under the supervision of experts from the University of Da Nang. To promote STEM, the department focuses on training staff, regularly sending highly qualified staff to participate in domestic and international training courses, and promoting cooperation with advanced STEM organisations and models in the world.

In addition, the department has will guide students to apply academics to solve big problems in society.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac, Vice President of the University of Da Nang, emphasised that the University of Da Nang is training many other closely related disciplines to provide human resources for the field of digital transformation such as electronic engineering, control and automation engineering, embedded systems and mechatronics.

In the coming time, the University of Da Nang will continue to promote the implementation of training programmes in a specific direction to increase targets, and at the same time to create conditions for students to associate with businesses, shortening the gap between theoretical and practical training, and increasing job opportunities for learners.

The University of Da Nang has issued the project on strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation during the 2022-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, with the aim of improving training quality and management efficiency, and gradually applying digital technology, especially blockchain technology, artificial intelligence and big data.

Furthermore, the University of Da Nang has increased the recruitment of teaching staff, and improved qualifications and academic degrees to expand the scale and increase the number of training to meet demand. Heed is on opening new training disciplines, especially those associated with the practical needs of the national digital transformation strategy.

Strengthening cooperation, attracting resources

Over the past time, the authorities at all levels and government departments and agencies have signed memoranda of understanding on digital transformation cooperation with large telecommunications and technology corporations such as FPT Corporation, Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group VNPT, aiming to provide more resources to develop digital transformation in general and digital human resources in particular. As noted, most businesses have plans to have more digital human resources for production and business development.

For example, the FPT Corporation is paying attention to investing in building synchronous facilities, and creating a favourable environment for living, studying and working in the FPT Urban Area Da Nang to attract workers.

Importance is being attached to cooperating with domestic universities and colleges to train and provide high-quality IT human resources.

Meanwhile, the Da Nang branch of the Axon Active Vietnam Co., Ltd. has opened short-term training courses for non-IT professionals; as well as cooperated with the city’s University of Science and Technology to organise DevDay since 2015.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Hai, General Secretary of the Da Nang Software Business Association, said that the association will strengthen cooperation with universities and training organisations in providing high-quality human resources for the local software industry.

Additionally, the association will continue to organise municipal-level IT events and specialised seminars to build a stronger IT community, contributing to improving the competitiveness of the software industry in Da Nang.
