The ceremony was co-organised by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Da Nang People’s Committee.

In his remarks at the event, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that over the past years, Da Nang has been one of the familiar destinations of the Viet Nam summer camp programme.

During the camp, the participants had the opportunity to experience culture, and learn about Vietnamese history and the national sovereignty at the Hoang Sa Exhibition House. Also, they competed in the ‘Vietnamese young talents’ competition, and attended a forum to introduce Viet Nam and Da Nang tourism.

At the events, the participants showed enthusiasm, were eager to learn and improve Vietnamese language, as well as contributed ideas on preserving Vietnamese language, culture and national identity, and on promoting and developing tourism in Viet Nam.

Vice Chairman Minh hoped that the overseas Vietnamese campers will convey information about beautiful and hospitable images of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to their family members and international friends when returning home.

This year’s event gathered 120 outstanding Vietnamese students from 26 countries and territories worldwide, who traveled to 10 cities and provinces across Viet Nam from July 18 to August 1, with Da Nang as the final destination.

Notably, they contributed nearly VND200 million (US$8,442) to charity activities in their homeland.
