On Saturday, the Viet Nam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), a school member of the University of Da Nang (UD) announced enrollment and training of high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductor chip technology.

From 2024, VKU will start enrolling about 500 new students in the field of Semiconductor Circuit Design. The training programme includes 160 credits with basic industry knowledge - foundation and specialized knowledge - semiconductor circuit design over a period of 4.5 years. By 2028 onwards, there will be students graduating from the field of Semiconductor Circuit Design.

VKU will adjust the training programme and transfer 180 students studying majors such as Computer Engineering Technology, Embedded Systems and IoT, and Information Technology to semiconductor circuit design. It is expected that by 2025, the first class will graduate.

VKU will also develop a policy to support 50-100% of tuition fees, free dormitory accommodation for the first 2 semesters and consideration for subsequent years; cooperate and call for scholarship funding from businesses, propose support policies from the Da Nang government and other related support policies for students in this field.

To prepare for training high-quality human resources in the field of semiconductor chip technology, in 2022, VKU started construction of an IC design Lab worth VND10 billion from non-refundable ODA capital from the South Korean government within the ODA - KOICA project framework.

On this occasion, VKU inked a cooperation agreement with Nam Long Technology Investment Group to cooperate in building a LAB room, new technology on microchips, 5G and implement practical training programmes at VKU.

At the same time, the university signed with FPT Company, the Institute of Information Technology of the Ha Noi National University, the Institute of System Integration, Le Quy Don Technical University to cooperate in undergraduate and graduate engineering programmes in semiconductor circuit design, along with practical internships, recruitment strategies.
