For instance, recently, the Thanh Khe Senior High School has hosted the "Young Creativity" Festival, attracting many scientific and creative projects. This has been an opportunity for teachers and experts to discuss the application of technology in education and effective STEM education methods, and promote digital transformation in the education sector.
Special features of the "Young Creativity" Festival have been activities and projects for competitions such as Smart City, Artificial Ecosystem, Jet Racing, Pneumatic Water Rocket Design, Fashion STEM protecting the environment, and folk dances for Thanh Khe youth.
In addition, students have had the opportunity to experience interesting chemical experiments on the stage such as Fire on water, and Love flower changing colour.
Dr. Nguyen Thi My Huong, an expert on STEM education, Director of the the Viet Nam - UK Institute for Research and Training said "According to the 2018 GDPT Programme, STEM education is an educational model based on an interdisciplinary approach, helping students apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics knowledge to solve practical problems in specific contexts. However, the transition from a single-subject teaching model to an interdisciplinary method is still difficult because teachers have not had the opportunity to receive in-depth training or experience with this new teaching approach”.
In the bustling atmosphere of the festival, Mr. Vo Van Khanh, Principal of the Thanh Khe Senior High School, remarked "Through the activities of the festival, students can get closer to STEM projects and experience new activities, thereby nurturing the spirit of innovation and self-development. In addition, this is also a playground for teachers to have the opportunity to learn and share experiences in teaching and applying STEM education effectively".
As a student in charge of the project "Automatic watering system in smart urban areas", Ho Viet Ha, a 10th grader, said " Through activities during the festival, students can get closer to STEM projects, experience scientific and technical activities, thereby nurturing the spirit of innovation and self-development. In addition, this is also a playground for teachers to have the opportunity to learn and share experiences in teaching and applying STEM education effectively”.
The implementation of the Youth Creativity Festival not only provides an interesting and useful playground but also contributes to sparking creativity and spreading the love of science in the school. At the same time, it helps students experience their creativity, develop their own abilities, and promote the spirit of cooperation and develop life skills.
