The Luong The Vinh Elementary School based in Son Tra District has developed the "Behind Your Success Lies the Shadow of Your Parents" reading model by creating an open group on Facebook, administered by the principal, vice principal, and Infomatics teachers.

The model attracts hundreds of active pupils to join, read books, and share experiences through video recordings. During reading time, parents or pupils themselves record videos and post them to the group in a bid to spread the reading culture throughout the school. The school encourages pupils to upload 2 videos per week to the group, documenting the process of reading a story, or poem for everyone to watch.

So far, more than 1,700 posts have been uploaded, surpassing the school's target of two posts per pupil per week. To encourage pupils and their parents to join, the Facebook group administrators summarise monthly activities and reward active participants with books. This reading model not only helps them realise the importance of reading culture but also provides opportunities for weak or slow readers to explore and develop related skills to serve their learning, such as spelling, expressive reading, storytelling, and especially reading comprehension and literary appreciation.

As shared by Mrs Vo Thi My Thu, Principal of the Luong The Vinh Elementary School, with this reading model, pupils limit the use of phones and TVs. Instead, in their free time, they seek out books to read. A promising sign is that gradually, pupils are embracing the reading model with passion, reading for enjoyment rather than participating in a confrontational manner.

In addition to the traditional library with nearly 13,000 books, the Nui Thanh Primary School based in Hai Chau District has developed an "E-library" model to facilitate pupils to search and read books online.

The school's e-library regularly updates new books to serve pupils’ needs. Accordingly, pupils are provided with IDs and passwords to access the e-library and can read books on their phones, or tablets anywhere.

Also, the "Green Library in the Schoolyard" model has been developed and expanded by the Ly Tu Trong Primary School in Hai Chau District to proactively bring books closer to pupils, making it most convenient and comfortable for them to read.

The school places bookshelves in the schoolyard for pupils to choose their favourite books or stories to read. On a weekly basis, library staff rotate books and stories to provide pupils with more reading opportunities. In addition to investing in books from the state budget, the school also calls for parents' support in donating books to diversify and enrich the bookshelves to meet pupils' reading needs.

Mrs Ho Thi Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of the Ly Tu Trong Primary School, said that the school and families regularly cooperate to encourage and cultivate reading habits in pupils from a young age. Accordingly, numerous activities are organised regularly to give them opportunities to access books in various forms such as storytelling competitions, and creatively concluding stories through drawings, thereby, helping pupils unleash their creativity and develop various skills.
