Da Nang honours 192 typical all-round excellent pupils during 2023-2024 academic year

The Da Nang Department of Education and Training held a ceremony on Tuesday to honour 192 typical all-round excellent pupils during the 2023-2024 academic year.

In attendance at the event were Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Organising Board Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Head of the Party Committee's Commission for Internal Affairs Vo Cong Chanh, Head of the Party Committee's Publicity and Training Department Doan Ngoc Hung Anh, and People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam.

In the 2023 - 2024 school year, the city's education and training sector rolled out many solutions to innovate management and teaching activities, with a focus on the selection and training of excellent and gifted students at all levels.

Pupils citywide achieved many excellent achievements in studying and training. Specifically, 3,584 pupils took part in and won prizes at the exam for excellent pupils in grades 9 and 12.

Also, 61 out of the 87 participating pupils won 2 first, 17 second, 19 third and 23 consolation prizes at the National Excellent Student Contest for the 2023-24 academic year.

Da Nang pupils took a first, a second and two consolation prizes at the Universal Postal Union (UPU)'s 53rd International Letter Writing Competition; a second prize at the National Science and Technology Competition for junior and senior high school pupils; and the first prize at the National Youth Informatics Competition 2023.

Also at the event, 35 outstanding preschoolers of 7 districts in the city, along with 45 pupils who are children of martyrs, war invalids, and difficult families, and disabled ones, were honoured and rewarded.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Quang Nam acknowledged the efforts of the entire education and training sector in the 2023-2024 school year. He expressed his impression on the improved quality of education activities, and the increasing number of good and excellent pupils, and prize winners at all-level competitions for excellent and gifted pupils. Also, facilities and equipment in schools were invested in the direction of standardisation and modernisation.

He asked the local education and training sector to continue promoting digital transformation and applying information technology in management, direction, administration and teaching activities in the coming time.

Mr. Nam stressed the need for schools citywide to educate personality, ethics, lifestyle, and skills for pupils and students, as well as facilitate management staff and teachers to study and improve their management capacity, professional qualifications and skills in order to meet the requirements for reforming the general education programme.
