Breakthroughs from Da Nang high-quality human resources
Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW of the Politburo (12th tenure) on building and developing Da Nang until 2030, with a vision toward 2045 clearly states: “Develop Da Nang into a centre for innovation and startups, a high-tech centre of the country; a regional centre for logistics, tourism - services, training high-quality human resources in the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI)”. The University of Da Nang (UD) has been making many breakthroughs in terms of high-quality human resources for the city's sustainable development.

According to Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, the Director of UD, in addition to its inherent potential, Da Nang also has great potentials and advantages that not every locality possesses, which is the advantage of being a ‘the city of universities’ that needs to be highly promoted.
The city boats a system of many universities with about more than 100,000 students, more than 60,000 of whom from UD’s member schools, reaching an average ratio of more than 800 students/10,000 people, 4 times higher than the whole country.
With regard to the potential of the scientific team, Da Nang has about more than 1,000 professors/associate professors, doctors, nearly 800 of whom are scientists and lecturers from the UD. This is a large and enthusiastic intellectual force that needs preferential and supportive policies to attract and treat to be promoted further.
Da Nang’s personnel policy should be "open", connecting the city with central agencies and universities to have more resources to build up a team of good leaders, managers, and experts, especially when the city is allowed by the national government to pilot the urban government model.
With the title of a “worth living, worth visiting” city, Da Nang, and the UD in particular, have the conditions to attract talents, excellent students from all regions to study and research. This is truly a young, healthy, dynamic, creative intellectual force, which is the potential and advantage for Da Nang to develop into an innovative city.
Every year, the UD and other universities citywide organise hundreds of national and international scientific events and conferences, attracting thousands of scientists and experts to exchange academic knowledge, which can be combined with sightseeing and tourism, contributing to promoting Da Nang to be worthy of the title ‘the city of event’.
With regard to human resource training for key industries, Da Nang is a city with great openness in terms of transportation and trade, located on the East-West Economic Corridor, facing the gateway to the East Sea; there are many similarities with Singapore, which has been successful thanks to the development of a knowledge-based economy and innovation.
In recent times, the city's leaders have paid special attention to and implemented the ‘Semiconductor Human Resource Training Programme’ with the response and participation of many universities and businesses, including the UD with a long tradition and strengths in training high-tech engineering fields and sectors that not all educational institutions can undertake.
With 18 training fields (136 undergraduate majors, 48 master's majors and 32 doctoral majors), the UD has most of the majors training human resources to serve the development of the region and the country in the new period to catch up with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 such as semiconductor design, AI, digital technology and financial technology.
Since the beginning of the 2023 - 2024 school year, the UD has pioneered the establishment of the alliance of leading universities to train human resources to meet the development requirements of the key semiconductor industry as proposed by the national government.
The member schools of the UD (University of Science and Technology, University of Technical Education, Viet Nam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology) all opened majors and trained in microchip design from 2024, with a fairly high admission score. The Da Nang University of Economics, a member school of the UD, is a pioneer in training in Fintech to meet the demand for human resources, contributing to attracting investment, developing the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, and regional and international financial centres.
So as to truly be worthy of being a major socio-economic center, Da Nang needs to create an attractive investment environment, living and working environment, so that everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed, thereby strongly attracting high-quality human resources to contribute to the successful implementation of Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW and Resolution No. 43/NQ-TW of the Politburo.
