Da Nang students win special prize at Smart Campus Campaign Asia Pacific 2024

A group of students from the Da Nang University of Technology - a member of the University of Da Nang - UD) has won the special prize at the final round of Smart Campus Campaign Asia Pacific Campaign  international competition for their outstanding entry ‘Speech-to-sign language conversion system for the hearing impaired’.

The first prize went to the ‘LoRaWan 7-in-1 wireless soil quality measuring device’ developed by a group of students from the same school.

Two second prizes were presented to the ‘LoRaWAN for soil, water and environment monitoring’ by a group of students from the National University of Laos and the ‘Flood detection and early warning system based on LoRaWAN and IoT technology’ by a group of students from the Ha Noi University of Science and Technology.

Two third prizes were awarded to student groups from the universities of Technology and Economics under UD.

The competition, themed ‘Innovative solutions for social sustainable development’, was part of the International Symposium of Smart City: Experiences and Innovations conference (ISSCEI 2024) held by the DNIIT - Da Nang International Institute of Technology under UD.

As a technical showcase for innovative solutions for smart city, the completion saw the competition of 12 teams from leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

At ISSCEI 2024, more than 150 delegates from domestic and foreign universities joined discussions about two main topics ‘Opportunities and challenges for sustainable smart cities’ and ‘LoRa and Internet of Things (IoT applications for sustainable smart cities’.

They also proposed solutions to apply the IoT and the LoRaWAN platform to improve the efficiency of urban management, enhance the quality of life of people, promote digital transformation, apply smart technology to solve emerging challenges with sustainable solutions for urban areas in Viet Nam, including Da Nang.

ISSCEI is a science and technology forum that brings together managers, businesses and researchers to discuss smart city challenges in the ASEAN context and identify possible technological advances. Apply and strengthen sustainable solutions.

The conference brings together representatives from cities, community organizations, industry and experts and researchers from universities. People with expertise and insight into real-world challenges (e.g., city administrators) or those who are deeply interested in innovative solutions (e.g., entrepreneurs and researchers) are given a special welcome.
