Wholeheartedly dedicated to pupils, and ….
In 1999, after graduating from the Da Nang College of Education, young teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Ha worked at the Nguyen Tri Phuong Junior High School in Hoa Bac Commune.
In the first years, she stayed at the official residence due to inconvenient traffic. Up to now, the road has been upgraded, meeting the travel and production needs of local people. It takes her over 40 minutes to travel from her home in Thanh Khe District to the school daily. Despite the hardship, she always tries to research and create new teaching methods.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the Nguyen Tri Phuong Junior High School has 62 Co Tu ethnic pupils, so it offers boarding service, creating favourable conditions for them to live and study.
Ms. Ha shared “In recent years, most of the pupils have learnt Vietnamese before entering school. Most of their parents can speak Vietnamese, so many of them communicate fluently. 100% of Co Tu pupils stay at the school from Mondays to Fridays, so we often encourage, care for, and help them overcome homesickness, study with peace of mind, and develop comprehensively”.
Since the beginning of the school year, Ms. Ha has actively trained 2 pupils who have won consolation prizes in the district-level science and technology competition with the topic "Method of preparing pesticides from convolvulus and Bidens pilosa”. In addition, she has participated in the model "Returning to pupils' families".
On weekends, she and other teachers visit each pupil's house to discuss with parents about their learning results, and at the same time, guide effective learning methods, and accompany the children in each stage. Ms. Ha's dedication and devotion to her profession has become a shining and exemplary example in the school's teaching staff and is always trusted and loved by parents and pupils.
…. the teaching profession
Born and raised in Anh Son District, Nghe An Province, teacher Le Anh Tu (born in 1979) chose Hoa Bac land to settle down and make a living.
After his graduation from Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports in 1998, Mr. Tu volunteered to teach in Hoa Bac Commune.
On the first day he arrived here, the images of dilapidated level 4 houses with sparse tiled roofs, difficult roads, and unstable electricity and water systems, were deeply imprinted in his mind, making it impossible for him to forget.
Mr. Tu was assigned to teach Physical Education at 2 campuses of the Hoa Bac Primary School in Pho Nam and Nam Yen villages. To get to the schools, he had to travel by boat.
In 2004, he was involved in teaching activities at all 5 campuses of the Hoa Bac Primary School. It seemed that the difficulties would discourage the young teacher, but he overcame all obstacles and became attached to this difficult land.
Over the past 25 years, Mr. Tu has helped pupils in Hoa Bac Commune become more agile and improve their physical fitness. At the same time, he has discovered and trained many pupils to participate in sports and achieve high results.
For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, he led the soccer team to win the second prize at the district-level and third prize at the municipal-level football tournaments. A pupil took the second prize at the district-level and a third prize at the city-level chess tournaments. In the 2024-2025 school year, a pupil grabbed a second prize and another won third prize at the district-level swimming tournament. Mr. Tu is continuing to train pupils to compete at the municipal-level sporting events in the near future.
Mr. Tu stressed the need for a multi-purpose house to create a safe and suitable environment for pupils. However, so far, the Hoa Bac Primary School has yet to have a multi-purpose hall or a separate space for practice, affecting the physical development of pupils.
He voiced his hope that such places will be invested in order for pupils to learn life skills. With his great efforts and dedication, Mr. Le Anh Tu was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning" in the 2023-2024 academic year.
