University of Da Nang plays key role in training high-quality human resources
The University of Da Nang (UD) hosted a ceremony on Saturday to mark its 30th birthday (1994–2024). Attending the event were Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang; Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi; along with representatives of local authorities and diplomatic agencies in Da Nang.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Son commended the UD for its remarkable achievements and contributions over the past 30 years, noting that these accomplishments serve as a solid foundation for the university's future development.
The Party and State envision the UD becoming one of Viet Nam’s leading higher education centres, playing a pivotal role in training high-quality human resources, enhancing research capabilities, and advancing technology transfer. This includes training personnel for the semiconductor industry and other cutting-edge sectors.

To realise these ambitions, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasised the need for the UD to overcome weaknesses, expedite its growth, and adjust its strategic plans. The university aims to become a national and regional education and training hub for the Central and Central Highlands regions.
Efforts will prioritise improving the quality of teaching staff, attracting leading experts and scientists, and fostering a robust academic community. The UD will innovate its curricula and teaching methods to align with international standards, leveraging IT applications, digital transformation, and AI. Furthermore, the university will accelerate the construction of its new campus in Hoa Quy - Dien Ngoc.
The Minister expressed confidence that the University of Da Nang would successfully implement its strategic goals and soon become a leading centre for scientific research and education in Viet Nam with global influence.

According to the UD’s Director Nguyen Ngoc Vu, the university has developed a comprehensive multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral education model over its 30-year history. It comprises six member universities, three affiliated training units, and numerous research institutes and technology transfer centres, with over 1,600 lecturers among 2,600 staff. The university boasts 8 professors, 130 associate professors, and nearly 800 PhDs, making its PhD-qualified staff ratio one of the highest in the country.
Looking ahead, the UD is committed to becoming a leading regional university and a significant driver of national human resources development. The university is determined to meet the aspirations outlined in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW, Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW of the Politburo, and Government Resolution No. 169/NQ-CP. UDN aims to become one of Viet Nam’s top three research and training centres with international prestige, contributing to the country's modernisation and industrialisation in the "New Era of National Growth".

On this occasion, alumni presented a symbolic scholarship worth VND 700 million to the UD, funded through voluntary contributions.
The UD was also honoured with certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training and the Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, and Dak Lak provinces for its outstanding achievements in human resource training and contributions to local socio-economic development.
