Breakthrough in training quality and scientific research
In the journey of building and developing for nearly 50 years, the University of Da Nang (UD) has always valued and promoted the human factor, in which lecturers, researchers and scientists are valuable assets to promote the improvement of training quality and scientific research.

Thanks to the drastic and persistent policies to encourage and facilitate sending officials and lecturers to study abroad; perfecting the working, teaching - learning, and research environment, each year the UD increases an average of nearly 100 professors, associate professors, and PhDs from new sources of appointment, training and recruitment.
For the time being, the UD has nearly 2,600 staff and lecturers, including 8 professors, 116 associate professors, 783 PhDs. Outstandingly, the proportion of lecturers with PhD degrees is approximately 48%, compared to the national average of about 32%.
The University of Science and Technology under the UD has the highest rate with over 70%, the University of Education has the strongest growth rate in the University of Da Nang, reaching 61.32%.
In 2024, the UD will have 19 teachers recognised by the State Council of Professors as meeting the standards of professor and associate professor (1 professor and 18 associate professors) and 74 more PhDs, most of whom were trained in developed countries.
According to Assoc.Prof., Dr. Vo Van Minh, the Rector of the University of Education under the UD, there should be policies to support financial resources and working conditions for teachers, including lecturers at pedagogical universities.
The requirements for pedagogical lecturers must be really high, along with that, there should be special and attractive remuneration policies to attract talent.
The core practice in teacher training for the 2018 General Education Program shows that the core teaching staff plays a key role when the Da Nang University of Education is both a "production" and a "warranty" and "maintenance" facility, with appropriate and regular investment in resources, especially from the state budget.
In his perspective, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, the Rector of the University of Science and Technology under the UD, said that the teaching staff is the subject and decisive factor in the quality of education, training and scientific research. The university focuses on improving the quality of the teaching staff by taking advantage of scholarship sources such as Project 322, 911, Project 89 of the national government, scholarships from foreign governments and universities.
This university has many measures to encourage young teaching staff to actively improve their expertise and foreign languages, creating favourable conditions for lecturers to study postgraduate in other countries.
This is a solid resource and premise for the school to complete the project objectives of fundamental and comprehensive education innovation according to Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (11th tenure) on fundamental and comprehensive education and training innovation, meeting the requirements of industrialisation and modernisation in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
In addition, the trend of linking training and practice to meet the needs of use in the increasingly competitive labor market, the UD encourages and creates mechanisms to attract more sources of lecturers and experts from businesses and hospitals.
Typically, the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, through the cooperation between the institute and the school, regularly promotes a team of doctors from hospitals in the city and neighbouring localities to both guide students in practice, internships, and theses, and to share useful experiences to improve medical ethics and expertise for doctors-to-be.
From solutions to foster and focus on developing the teaching staff, on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day, November 20, 3 lecturers were honoured with the title of ‘Excellent Teacher’; three as outstanding teachers and managers nationwide; two won the ‘Outstanding Young Teacher’ award at the national level; three received the ‘Outstanding Da Nang Teacher" award for the 2023 - 2024 academic year.
According to the leaders of the UD, in order to promote its strengths and continue to develop sustainably in the new period, the UD has resolutely implemented the policy of streamlining the apparatus to be effective and efficient; improving the qualifications of staff, lecturers, and researchers; increasing the ratio of professors, associate professors, and doctors/lecturers; concentrating resources and having outstanding policies and incentives for leading scientists, mobilising scholarship sources to train staff and lecturers abroad to create a quality breakthrough.
