In order to improve the digital capacity of youth in the city, and seek and promote highly practical ideas in the field of education, the Da Nang Youth Union has carried out the project "Da Nang Youth and Digital Transformation in Education" in 2024, attracting 27 project teams from senior high schools and vocational training centres.

Within the framework of the activity, since October 2024, the municipal Youth Union has organised a skills training course for teams with 4 topics: general issues on the current status of digital transformation in education, plus innovative, specific, practical and effective solutions; project development and management skills; leadership and teamwork skills; and presentation and critical thinking skills.

In addition, the project teams participated in a project consulting and development workshop with the support of experts. At the same time, they visited and experienced some digital transformation models at the Da Nang Biotechnology Centre and the Digital Innovation Space at the University of Economics - the University of Da Nang.

The team from Lien Chieu Senior High School won first prize with the project "Edumate - Smart learning support application". This project not only has a beautiful, friendly interface, smart features, but also has high applicability in education.

Nguyen Gia Han, a team member, said that the advantage of Edumate is that it can analyse learning behaviour, suggest suitable content, and optimise the learning process.

By using AI, Machine Learning, Big data technology platforms, the application can process large amounts of data and provide detailed information on learning progress. In addition, it supports multiple languages, and has assessment tests and forums to share learning resources, and develop soft skills for pupils.

"The team hopes that through the project, students will be able to improve their self-study skills and increase their interest in learning. At the same time, it helps create effective learning support tools to meet the 2018 general education programme" Han shared.

Not only learning support projects, youth union members and young people from schools citywide also create many digital products with the aim of improving the quality of inclusive education. Notable among them is the project "Building a translation system for deaf pupils to improve the quality of inclusive education" of Thanh Khe Senior High School’s Youth Union.

According to the team members, by building a web solution and a phone translation application, the project supports deaf pupils in learning and entertainment at a simple level.

Through the project, deaf spupils can learn sign language through images synchronised with the content conveyed in the video, helping to enhance their ability to learn, experience and narrow the communication gap.

To implement this project, the team researched and evaluated the current status of the impact of sign language on students' awareness and interest. In the future, the research team will improve the application with 90% accuracy and will be available on all phone lines, updating new sign languages.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, digital transformation in education is not only about applying technology but also requires changing the way of thinking about learning and teaching.

In particular, the Gen Z generation with its sensitivity and creativity has quickly caught up and developed many breakthrough solutions. Outstanding projects such as electronic timetable management applications, chatbots supporting problem solving, or smart learning applications are all highly practical.

These ideas not only improve the quality of learning but also encourage pupils to actively participate in the learning process, creating an effective and innovative learning environment. “Through project activities, we want to create conditions and encourage young people to participate in digital transformation, first of all to gain knowledge, then to join hands to spread strong digital transformation in the community,” said Ms. Thao.
