Facilitating Da Nang vocational school students to do internships, work abroad
One of the training trends that vocational training institutions in Da Nang are interested in facilitating students to do internships and work abroad, thereby helping them improve their skills and qualifications, opening up job opportunities in other countries.

Paid internship
In mid-December 2024, the Da Nang College of Food Industry sent 18 students to Japan for internships under the 2024 Internship Programme.
Vo Pham Kim Hoa, class 23C2, majoring in Japanese food technology, excitedly said: “After 1.5 years of studying hard to complete the courses and Japanese language level equivalent to N4, I will have a 1-year internship at a company in Japan and will receive salary. This is be a valuable time for me to hone my skills and experience in the food technology industry, and have the opportunity to study and learn about Japanese culture and people”.
In a similar vein, Huynh Thi Tuyet, class 23C2, Japanese food technology major, said that to participate in the Japanese Internship programme, students must register right from the time of enrollment.
“After a lot of effort and hard work, my friends and I have initially conquered the dream of working in the land of the rising sun through paid internships. This is a premise for me to be able to return to work after graduation,” Tuyet shared.
According to Mr. Tran Hoang Dung, the Director of the Admissions and Employment Centre, the College of Food Industry, since 2021, the school has implemented the Japanese internship programme for 5 majors: Culinary Processing Technology, Food Technology, Biotechnology - Agriculture, Hotel Management, Japanese Language.
Under the training program, students have 1.5 years to complete specialized courses according to their training major and Japanese language proficiency equivalent to N4.
Then there is a 1-year paid internship in Japan, with 25 credits of professional and vocational internship. In 2023, 69 students registered for the Japan internship programme.
Since the implementation of this programme, 77 students have gone to Japan for internship, receiving an average salary of 13 - 14 million VND/month after deducting expenses for accommodation, insurance, and taxes.
Meanwhile, the Da Nang College of Tourism has just sent nine students of the Hotel Management and Culinary Arts majors to Germany for work.
Participating in this trip, student Duong Thi Thuy Linh, majoring in Culinary Arts, shared: “To be able to study and work in Germany, I must meet the requirements for foreign language proficiency, academic performance and training. This is an opportunity for me to study and work in an advanced environment, access the civilization of such a developed country to improve my knowledge and skills. At the same time, I enjoy welfare and income benefits like local people”.
Strengthening connections, expanding partnerships
A representative of the Da Nang College of Food Industry said that the school has signed memorandums of understanding and contracts with more than 20 businesses and departments of industry and trade of Kisarazu (Chiba Prefecture) and Yokohama (Kanagawa Prefecture) in Japan.
To expand partnerships, in November 2023, the college signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South Thuringia (Thuringia State, Germany) and Ha Noi IEC Company Limited on training programmes in Germany.
Currently, there are 7 alumni of the Da Nang College of Food Industry doing internships in Germany with a starting salary of more than 60 million VND/month; 12 students are studying the German language and are expected to leave for Germany in April 2025.
Similarly, the Da Nang College of Tourism is also strengthening cooperation with foreign partners to link training and supply high-quality human resources to potential markets.
As reported by Rector of Da Nang College of Tourism Nguyen Duy Quang, up to now, this college has signed agreements with more than 20 international partners in countries such as Japan, Germany and Singapore on lecturer and student exchanges, arranging internships and introducing jobs abroad for students after graduation.
The school is also sending its students to do paid internships and work at foreign enterprises through the ‘Vietnamese Family’ project signed with MOS Burger Group in Japan; the "1.5+1" programme signed with Kansai Union in Japan and Nursing Human Resources Development Joint Stock Company; the programme signed with Avestos Group and Devis Joint Stock Company to support the students to study and work in Germany.
At the Phuong Dong Da Nang College, in addition to maintaining programmes to send students to do internships and work in Japan, in 2024, this educational establishment will expand cooperation with many partners.
It has signed a cooperation agreement with Kyungnam College of Information and Technology (Busan, South Korea) and K-Geul company. According to the cooperation content, eligible students studying a full-time programme at the Phuong Dong Da Nang College and achieving Topik 2 Korean language certificate or higher, are transferred to Kyungnam College of Information and Technology under a student exchange programme from 6 months to 1 year.
In August 2024, the school signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nevada Healthcare Professionals Network Association (the USA) and Phuong Nam Group on cooperation in developing the ‘International Professional Nursing Development Programme in Nevada’.
According to Dr. Dang Thi Mong Quyen, Vice Rector of the Da Nang College of Food Industry, the cooperation in sending students to practice and work abroad is a training direction that helps students access the modern industries of other countries to learn specialized knowledge, skills, processes, and work discipline; improve foreign language skills, expand job opportunities after graduation, contributing to the development of the Da Nang high-quality human resources.
