Da Nang hospital promotes stem cell technology application
The Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security, on Thursday, inked a cooperation agreement with MekoStem Stem Cell Bank and VBN Group to enhance the application of medical technology to preserve umbilical cord stem cells for sake of disease treatment support.

Accordingly, the Hospital 199 and MekoStem agreed to promote research and collection of umbilical cord stem cell samples from babies. Stem cells have been proven to be capable of supporting the treatment of more than 85 complex diseases such as cardiovascular, neurological, cancer, bone and joint diseases, autoimmune diseases, diabetes and many other diseases. However, the development of this stem cell technology has not yet been widely deployed in practical applications.
The Hospital 199 boasts modern equipment and a team of experienced doctors. It is a pioneering medical unit in the application of many advanced medical technologies such as stem cells, regenerative medicine, and international medical examination and treatment.
Colonel, Dr. Quach Huu Trung, Director of the Hospital 199, said that the cooperation with MekoStem (a stem cell bank with more than 12,000 customers) and VBN Group will support, deploy and coordinate activities to advise pregnant women on selecting and collecting umbilical cord samples, and promote the trade of stem cell products for the hospital.
The signing of the agreement demonstrates the commitment to close cooperation between the parties, aiming to bring effective treatment solutions, especially in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine.
