Free vocational training for people of working age

In order to increase the rate of people with jobs and supplement human resources for the labour market, units and localities in Da Nang have coordinated with vocational training institutions to organize free vocational training for people of working age.

Vocational training to start a business

In mid-February 2025, the Da Nang College of Tourism in collaboration with the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District organised a graduation ceremony and conferred free vocational training certificates to the labour force in the district.

After graduating from a vocational course in food processing techniques, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen, born in 1993, residing in Hoa Hai Ward, boldly opened a restaurant. Thanks to the free vocational class, Ms. Nguyen was equipped with a lot of useful knowledge about the food and beverage industry, as well as mastered her basic skills in processing and presenting dishes to serve business.

Similarly, 29-year-old Huynh Thi Hong also living in Hoa Hai Ward took part in the aforementioned vocational course to open a food shop.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, a resident of Hoa Quy Ward, intends to open a coffee shop so she decided to attend a bartending course.

To implement the "Employment" programme associated with social security work, the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District surveyed the needs of workers, made a list of those in need of vocational training, and coordinated with the Da Nang College of Tourism to organize free vocational training classes. As a result, 25 working-age people from poor households, people with disabilities, and female workers took part in courses on food processing techniques, bartending techniques, and housekeeping services. After 3 months of training, 100% of trainees were awarded graduation certificates by the college, thereby facilitating them seek jobs, change suitable occupations, start a business, and develop the family economy.

Increase income, reduce poverty sustainably

In late February 2025, the Women's Union of Hoa Quy Ward worked with the Loc Phat Company to organize a free vocational training class for 110 female members. The intention of the classes was to facilitate female members, especially middle-aged women, to increase their income.

Accordingly, the trainees were introduced to the bamboo and rattan weaving profession, and basic techniques in weaving, and at the same time, shared about the regime, policies, and benefits when working at the company.

Meanwhile, the People's Committee of Thanh Khe District has just organised dialogues, and vocational training consultation sessions, for workers in the district. At the dialogues, representatives of the district advised workers on free vocational training classes to change their occupations and find suitable jobs.

In response to the free vocational training policy for workers receiving unemployment insurance in the city, in 2024 alone, the Da Nang Employment Service Centre offered vocational training courses to 957 workers. Specifically, 18 bartending courses were opened for 428 people; 13 classes on food preparation techniques for 332 people; and 10 classes on makeup for 197 people. This significantly contributed to the effective implementation of the "Employment" programme in the city.

To continue supporting vocational training for workers under social policies, on February 12, 2025, the municipal People's Committee issued Decision No. 03/2025/QD-UBND supplementing the list of occupations attached to Decision No. 31/2016/QD-UBND of the municipal People's Committee regulating vocational training support policies for workers under social policies in the city.

In addition to the 41 occupations previously supported with tuition fees, the city added 3 occupations including forestry tree planting, care and harvesting techniques (with the support level of VND 2.4 million/person/course); agricultural tree planting, care and harvesting techniques (with the support level of VND 2.3 million/person/course); and South Korean language (with the support level of VND 3 million/person/course).

Beneficiaries include people with disabilities; poor ethnic minorities; ethnic minorities; people with revolutionary contributions; poor households; families affected by relocation, site clearance, land recovery, agricultural land recovery, and business land recovery; female workers who have lost their jobs; fishermen; farmers; and law violators.
