The key to adapting to the future
“Entrepreneurship is not only about opening a business, but also about innovative thinking, being willing to accept risks and creating value.”, said Ms. Le My Nga, the Acting Director at Da Nang campus of Swinburne Viet Nam and also a judge on the Shark Tank Viet Nam programme.
According to Ms. Nga, people with an entrepreneurial mindset do not necessarily have to become entrepreneurs, but can apply it to science, technology, art or education. The essence of the entrepreneurial spirit lies in adaptability, problem-solving thinking and leadership capacity. In a world of constant change, these skills not only help students start a business but also create a competitive advantage in any field.
Entrepreneurial thinking is demonstrated in the ability to be creative, find new directions when facing challenges and always be aware of creating value. This is especially important in the context of a constantly changing labour market, many traditional jobs are replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. People with an entrepreneurial mindset will not be passive in the face of change, but instead, they find ways to adapt, learn and transform themselves to suit new needs.
Integrating the entrepreneurial spirit into university teaching is not only an inevitable trend but also brings many practical benefits. First of all, this helps students practice critical thinking, problem-solving skills and creativity - core elements in the modern business and working environment.
Instead of passively absorbing knowledge, students are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas and learn how to turn thoughts into actions. In addition, the entrepreneurial spirit also helps students comprehensively develop teamwork, communication and negotiation skills.
Entrepreneurship is not only limited to establishing a business but also a process of training flexible thinking, adaptability and finding solutions to real-life challenges. More importantly, students with an entrepreneurial spirit will be more proactive in career orientation and not passive in the face of fluctuations in the labour market.
A solid foundation for students
As one of the top 1% of universities in the world, Swinburne Viet Nam has developed the ‘Entrepreneurship Training’ programme with a systematic and practical roadmap. This programme not only provides basic knowledge, but also helps students have the opportunity to experience reality and develop startup projects while still in school.
“Entrepreneurship training” at Swinburne Viet Nam is built in three phases. The first phase focuses on teaching two foundational courses on entrepreneurship, helping students master basic knowledge. After that, students will participate in Swin-Biz-Rockstar, a prestigious startup competition organised by Swinburne Viet Nam, serving as a launching pad for innovative business ideas and applying technology to solve social problems.
In the final phase, students can register for the Entrepreneurship Launchpad, an in-depth course that helps them build business strategies, practice and present them to investors.
During this period, students can submit their startup ideas to the Review Board to receive an investment of 25 - 50 million VND/project if they commit to actual implementation. In addition, students also have the opportunity to participate in the Startup Incubator to receive in-depth support from experts and startup advisors.
Not only does the programme help students equip themselves with practical knowledge and skills, but it also opens up opportunities to connect with the business community, investors and necessary resources to develop successful startups. This is a solid stepping stone to help them confidently build their careers in the modern business environment.
It can be seen that integrating the spirit of entrepreneurship into university teaching not only helps students equip themselves with practical skills, but also creates a young generation who dare to think, dare to do and are ready to create value.
In the future, those with entrepreneurial spirit will not only be business founders, but also pioneers in many fields, making positive contributions to the development of society.
