Recently, many schools across Da Nang have been organising lots of activities to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Prominent among them is the Thanh Khe Senior High School with the organisation of professional cluster activities on STEM clubs.

The 2018 General Education Programme sets a goal of equipping pupils with necessary skills in science and technology, so the establishment of STEM clubs in schools is an important step to realise this goal.

Through practical and experiential activities, STEM clubs help pupils develop creative thinking, problem-solving skills and teamwork skills that are essential in the digital age.

During the professional cluster meeting at the Thanh Khe Senior High School, teachers learned about valuable experiences in organising and operating STEM clubs. Many teachers participated in exchanging ideas and learning from each other's experiences to create attractive subject playgrounds together.

Mr. Vo Thai Duong, an expert from the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, shared in-depth information about how to build a creative and effective learning environment. He stressed the necessity for schools to set up STEM Clubs.

Currently, 20 schools have established STEM Clubs, and this model is gradually attracting the participation of many pupils who are passionate about exploring science. At the same time, he also highly appreciated the creativity and responsibility of teachers in finding innovations in implementing the 2018 General Education Programme.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My An, a teacher at the Hien Nhan Junior and Senior High School, also shared about the difficulties in applied teaching, and at the same time, highly appreciated the creative STEM models of many schools citywide She hoped that these applied teaching activities need the support of parents because they also require time and even financial support.

The highlight of the professional cluster meeting was the creative robot performance of the STEM Club of the Thanh Khe Senior High School with a mini game called "Entering the Independence Palace to Liberate Saigon". This is not only an interesting activity but also an opportunity for teachers to participate in the creative process and experience with their pupils. Through the game, pupils had the opportunity to apply knowledge of science and technology into practice, while developing teamwork skills and creative thinking.

Nguyen Bao Khanh, a pupil of class 10/6, shared that the school’s STEM Club helped him study more proactively. He not only learned theory but also had the opportunity to apply that knowledge into practice. In the playground, he also had many friends with the same interests.

The establishment of STEM clubs in schools not only equips pupils with the necessary skills in science and technology according to the 2018 General Education Programme but also contributes to shaping their future in the field of science and technology.

Through activities such as "STEM Festival - Inspiring Creativity" at the Le Hong Phong Junior High School organised by Da Nang University of Technical Education or the professional cluster meeting at the Thanh Khe Senior High School, we can clearly see the efforts of the Da Nang education sector in promoting STEM education. These efforts will certainly bring long-term benefits to the development of the young generation of Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular.
