Last Saturday, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Nguyen Dieu, chaired the city-level oil spill response practice at the city's Son Tra Beach.
In a hypothetical situation, a break in an oil pipeline had occured during a pumping operation, which had resulted in an oil spill. The scale of the spill brought the risk of a fire and an explosion which could endanger the local residents and their properties and houses. It would also threaten the environment surrounding the beach, the seashore, the local gulf, and a section of road between the intersections of Le Duc Tho and Hoang Sa streets and the intersections of Vo Van Kiet and Vo Nguyen Giap streets.
The city’s border guard force, the Fire Fighting Police Department, the Da Nang Police Department, petrol companies across the city, and other local relevant agencies were called to the scene to efficiently control the incident.
According to the incident management board, the practice was conducted carefully, and the participants controlled the incident in a synchronised and effective way.
