Work starts on Hoang Sa Exhibition House
On Monday, work started on the Hoang Sa Exhibition House at the corner of Hoang Sa and Phan Ba Phien streets in Man Thai Ward of Son Tra District. Covering an area of 1,296m2, the 4-storey house will cost about 40 billion VND from the city’s budget.
Once operational, the exhibition house will display numerous documents and exhibits which will help visitors gain an insight into the geographical position and natural conditions of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, and of Da Nang as a whole.
In addition, there will be hundreds of documents, photos and artifacts about Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the archipelago taken from old Vietnamese bibliographies issued before and during the feudal Nguyen Dynasty. Also on display will be maps and historical documents, published by China and some European countries, affirming Viet Nam’s legitimate claim over the archipelago. There will be historical evidence which proves Viet Nam’s legitimate sovereignty over the islands during the 1954 - 1974 period, and since 1975.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, the Chairman of the Hoang Sa Islands District People's Committee (PC), Mr Vo Cong Chanh, highlighted the significance of the project in re-affirming Viet Nam’s sacred sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago. He added that it will help to educate local residents, especially the younger generations, about patriotism and raise their sense of responsibility in the struggle to protect the nation’s sovereignty over its sea and islands.
Municipal PC Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung urged the project’s construction units to make every effort to ensure the project’s quality and completion on schedule in order to satisfy the expectations of local residents and all Vietnamese people.
