Vietnamese football fans have witnessed football history for the second time this year as the national football team defeated Syria 1-0 in a tense quarter-final of the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 at the Patriot Candrabhaga stadium of West Java, Indonesia on Monday evening, progressing into the semi-finals.

Thousands of football fans flocked to streets of Da Nang on Monday night to celebrate the Vietnamese team’s historic win.

Viet Nam’s competitor in the semi-final will be South Korea, who defeated U23 Uzbekistan 4-3 in the other semi-final on the same day. The match between Viet Nam and Korea will take place on Wednesday, 29 August.
