Elation exploded across Viet Nam on Saturday night as the national football team won the Asean Football Federation Championship 2018, ending a 10-year wait. It's no exception in Da Nang as thousands of fans got sleepless night as they spilled into downtown streets to celebrate Viet Nam’s dramatic win, despite heavy rain.

Many downtown streets being flooded with huge crowds of fans, usually on their motorbikes, even in cars, with national flags in their hands and flag- or heart-themed stickers glued on their cheeks and foreheads shouting in triumph. This is what known as “di bao”, literally translated as “going like a storm,” in Vietnamese.

Such major streets as Bach Dang, Tran Phu, Yen Bai and Phan Dinh Phung and Tran Hung Dao were crowded with fans waving the Vietnamese flag.

Viet Nam made history when it defeated Malaysia with a 3-2 aggregate in the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup. The first leg of the final, played at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia on Tuesday, ended in a 2-2 tie, giving Viet Nam the advantage of having scored two away goals. Taking place at the Ha Noi-located My Dinh Stadium, the second leg ended with a 1-0 win for the home team, the goal scored by forward Nguyen Anh Duc.

Some reporters and freelancers from the DA NANG Newspaper captured the celebrate moment across the city.

Local fans made anything that can ‘make some noise,’ literally, to glorify the triumphs of the country's national football team. There was an audio-visual feast, with red colour seen everywhere and the space filled with the bizarre sound. Some blew their horns while others enthusiastically beat their ‘drums,’ which were in fact pots and pans.
