Located in Quang Nam Province’s Duy Xuyen District, the Ban Thach Village is well-known for its sedge mat-making craft over hundreds of years.
With abundant sources of raw rush and jute, the materials used to weave sedge-mats, Ban Thach villagers have succeeded in developing their own handicraft and improving their living standards.
Despite the rapid urbanisation in the province, Ban Thach villagers have made great efforts to preserve and develop their craft products.
Below are some photos of the sedge mat-making process taken by photographer Tran Thang from Quang Nam Province.
