City streets coloured by Mid-autumn toys and lanterns

In these days leading up to the Mid-autumn Festival, which this year falls on 13 September, a wide variety of children’s toys and lanterns have been on sale across Da Nang.

Since mid-August, souvenir and toys shops on Ngo Gia Tu, Hung Vuong, Phan Chau Trinh, Trung Nu Vuong and Hoang Dieu streets have become more vibrant and have been lit up by the colours of Mid-autumn toys. |

In particular, the traditional paper and battery operated lanterns, which are printed with the images of cute cartoon characters, are attracting a great deal of attention from local children. |

In addition, such traditional toys as drums, paper hand fans, and handmade lion heads and Ong Dia face masks are on sale at local toys shops. |
|
Ong Dia face masks are being sold at the prices of between 30,000 VND and 50,000 VND each. |
|
The prices of small-sized handmade lion heads range between 60,000 VND and 100,000 VND each, depending their designs and quality. |
|
Meanwhile, large-sized lion heads cost more than 500,000 VND each. |
|
The prices of all kinds of star-shaped lanterns hover at 15,000 VND - 50,000 VND per piece. |
|
The majority of parents buy ‘made-in-Viet Nam’ products to their children because of their educational and cultural values. |
|
Many parents do not choose toys of unclear origin in order to ensure the safety of their children. |
