Developed on the build-transfer (BT) basis, the 4-lane La Son-Tuy Loan expressway is part of the 3,183 km-long Ho Chi Minh Highway which runs through 28 Vietnamese localities.
Stretching a total of 77.6 km, the route begins at the La Son T-junction, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien-Hue Province, and ends at the intersection with the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway in Tuy Loan Village, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang.
The project costs over 11 trillion VND which is loaned by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) which is Japan’s largest bank.
Mr Nguyen Minh Khanh from the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board said main items of the La Son-Hoa Lien section has been basically completed. Meanwhile, the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan section is seeking approval from the Prime Minister for its adjustments.
Here are amazing photos from the La Son-Tuy Loan expressway, which captured by our reporter Xuan Son.

Work started on the La Son-Tuy Loan project in 2015. This route winds through majestic mountains. |
Once completed, the expressway will connect with eastern sides of the Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang-Quang Ngai, and Cam Lo-La Son highways. |
There will be a total of 36 overpasses along the La Son-Tuy Loan expressway. |
The project is divided into 2 stages. The 1st stage of the project focused on the construction of the 2-lane route. During the 2nd stage, the route will be expanded into four lanes, allowing vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 80 kph. |
As part of the route, the Mui Trau twin tunnels are located in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District. |
The anti-erosion taluses on the both sides of the route are nearing completion. |
The installation of traffic signs and the creation of road surface markings along the route have already been completed. |

Work is now being on track at an intersection at the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan section in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Lien Commune. |
However, main obstacles to the construction of the intersection at the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan section are site clearance and compensation work for families affected by the project. |
The management broad of the La Son-Tuy Loan route is working closely with the local authorities to accelerate site clearance and compensation work, thereby ensuring the on-schedule implementation of this large-scale project. |
Once completed, the project will help expand the transport links amongst key central regional economic hubs, boosting the city’s socio-economic development, and ensuring closer links with other localities in Central Viet Nam, and around the country as a whole. |
