A gallery featuring arts works created by late painter and sculptor Le Cong Thanh is opening in the Museum of Fine Arts, as part of celebrations for the Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day (23 November).

The famous artist was born in Hai Chau District, Da Nang, in 1932. He passed away in March 2019. He took part in the To Ngoc Van Resistance Fine Arts Course during the 1955-1957 period. After that, he became a lecturer of the Faculty of Sculpture of the Ha Noi University of Industrial Fine Arts. In 1983, he was appointed Vice President of the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association during the 1983-1989 period.
Artist Thanh possess a monumental career in sculpture with an independent composition style, being hailed as one of Viet Nam’s most outstanding sculptors in the 20th century. Prominent among his ‘brainchildren’ is the ‘Me Au Co’ (Mother Au Co) Statue which is one of the highlights of the Da Nang-based East Sea Park.
