Over 900 runners compete in 24th Da Nang Newspaper Road Races

More than 900 runners from 80 government agencies and departments, senior high schools, junior colleges and universities across Da Nang, and Da Nang-based armed forces, competed in the 24th DA NANG Newspaper Road Races which took place at the Tien Son Sport Arena on Sunday morning.

In particular, the races saw the participation of nearly 100 professional runners of 13 teams from the provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Binh Dinh, Ninh Binh, Quang Ngai, Lang Son, Ha Nam, Phu Yen, Ha Tinh, Thai Binh, and Hue, and the Da Nang Athlete Training Centre.

Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum municipal People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association Mai Duc Loc, and Head of the Da Nang Department of Publicity and Training Nguyen Dinh Vinh, along with representatives from departments and agencies across Da Nang made their attendance at the opening ceremony of the event.

In his speech delivered at the opening ceremony, DA NANG Newspaper Editor-in-chief Nguyen Duc Nam, thanked Da Nang leaders for their great support for the newspaper’s annual races.

He highlighted the significance of the event in training talented runners for Da Nang, as well as promoting sporting spirit among people from all walks of life, civil servants, school pupils and university students, military officers and men across Da Nang.

To mark this occasion, as many as 4,000 runners from 40 government departments and agencies, and junior colleges and universities across Da Nang, participated in the Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2020 in response to the “All people do physical exercise following the example of Uncle Ho”.
