Between 6 and 10 February, 80 free coaches, arranged by the Da Nang Labour Union, are bringing nearly 3,000 poor migrant workers in the city back their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.
Apart from receiving free coach tickets, these poor migrants are provided with free portion of meals, worth 100,000 VND each, and free drinking water, as well as receive lucky money from the municipal Labour Union.
Municipal Labour Union Vice Chairman Hoang Huu Nghi highlighted that the arrangement of such free coaches aimed to help poor workers to return their homes in other parts of Viet Nam to celebrate the upcoming Tet Festival.
"In light of the complicated developments of Covid-19, all passengers are required to strictly follow disease prevention and control measures, including having their body temperatures measured before getting on/off the vehicles, wearing face coverings, and cleaning their hands during their return journey" Mr Nghi remarked.
Ms Tran Thi Thuy, a teacher hailing from Nghe An Province could not hide her happiness at receiving a free coach ticket from the Da Nang Labour Union. This highly-hailed move helped her and other poor migrant workers in Da Nang to reduce partly travel expenses when reuniting with their family members over the forthcoming Tet.
Nguyen Thi Trang, a worker of the Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading JSC, said "I, my husband and children have not returned our hometown for Tet for 3 years due to financial hardship, so we are very happy to receive meaningful support from Da Nang Labour Union to celebrate the start of a lunar new year in our hometown”.
Free coaches will depart from the Culture and Sports Centre for Workers (Street No.2 at the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park) on 6, 8, 9 and 10 February:
18 coaches left a vacant land lot in front of the Lien Chieu District Administrative Centre on Sunday to bring the poor migrants home for Tet.
