This type of flowers plays an important role and special position in both Vietnamese spirit and culture, dubbed as a symbol of beauty overcoming darkness. The fragrance and beauty of lotus flowers in season adds considerably to the rustic charm.

Based on the distinctive flavour of the lotus, Vietnamese people have lifted lotuses to the pinnacle of culinary culture. Their parts are processed into special dishes such as lotus root salad, lotus jam and tea and lotus seed tea.
