Over the past few days, many volunteer groups and benefactors across Da Nang have joined a highly meaningful programme under which they donated tens of tonnes of fruit, vegetables, dried food and fresh seafood to Ho Chi Minh City, the largest COVID-19 epicentre in Viet Nam for the time being.  Such a good deed aims to relieve the financial burden shouldered by dwellers in this metropolis during the raging COVID-19 crisis.

Every day, a large number of fruit, vegetables, instant noodles and canned food donated by the general public for Ho Chi Minh City are mobilised at a collection point set at 109 Nguyen Van Huyen in Cam Le District.

All of the donated food are preliminarily processed, cleaned and packed in boxes to ensure their freshness during transportation.

The spoiled parts of cabbages are removed before being delivered to the southern hub.

Many anonymous donors have rented cars to transport hundreds of boxes of instant noodles and canned goods to 109 Nguyen Van Huyen.

The ‘Zero VND’ volunteer group has raised 500kg of field cabbages, 100kg of meat soaked in fish sauce and many jars of fermented onions from the general public.

Mr. Dao Van Vinh, the head of the ‘Zero VND’ volunteer group, said that during the previous floods, people across the country, including those in Ho Chi Minh City, gave in-kind support to Central Viet Nam. Therefore, residents in Central Viet Nam, and Da Nang in particular, are ready to stand side by side with also this southern city amid the tough times triggered by the pandemic.

Fresh scads are chosen as gifts for residents living in Ho Chi Minh City. Fish is preliminarily processed, cleaned, and packed in boxes before delivery.

Da Nang holds a strong belief that Ho Chi Minh City will put the coronavirus rage under control soon.
