The Institute of Oceanography in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, is considered as one of the earliest scientific research facilities in Viet Nam, and the largest marine archival and research facility in Southeast Asia.
In the Oceanography Institute, visitors cannot help visiting the Oceanographic Museum (an integral system of the Oceanography Institute) with more than 20,000 specimens of more than 4,000 types of marine and freshwater organisms which have collected and preserved for years.
The Institute was once voted among Top 10 attractive historical and cultural tourist destinations with the title of "Satisfied tourist destinations in 2005".
