Mural street takes shape in Da Nang

The Son Tra District authorities in Da Nang held a ceremony on Monday to launch a mural street in Man Thai Ward. The move aimed to promote the cultural values ​​of Viet Nam’s sea in association with building a cultural and civilised urban lifestyle, thereby making the street an ideal destination to attract tourists.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Son Tra District People's Committee Huynh Van Hung said that under conclusion issued by the Standing Board of the municipal Party Committee, Son Tra District is orientated to become a civilized and modern urban area, and a hub for tourism, service, finance, commerce and marine economy in the city to 2030 and subsequent years.

Since March 3, 2022, the district authorities have provided VND600 million in funding for beautifying alleys adjacent to the Lang Ong area in Man Thai Ward with mural paintings. The mural street is nearly 400m long and ​​more than 1,200 m2 in area.

The purpose is to diversify the locality’s tourism products, bring community art into living space, preserve ancient sea villages, and implement a project on promoting community-based tourism at the Tho Quang - Man Thai beach.

Created by the HAFA ART Construction and Fine Arts Co., Ltd., colorful mural paintings themed ‘The story of a fishing village’ vividly depict the cultural beauty, daily life, and livelihood of residents along the Son Tra coast. 

 “We hope that the Man Thai mural street will attract more visitors to visit and take souvenir photos in the time to come, thereby contributing to creating jobs for locals and driving the district’s economy”, said Vice Chairman Hung.

Mr. Hung also took the opportunity to ask local residents to join hands with the local government to keep the mural street clean, beautiful, neat and tidy in a bid to create an attractive destination for both residents and tourists.
