As a natural lagoon in Tra Loc Village, Hai Hung Commune, Hai Lang District, Quang Tri Province, the Tram Tra Loc is surrounded by primeval forests and diverse vegetation. In local language, ‘tram’ means a natural, vast lake.

The traditional fishing festival named ‘Pha Tram’ is more than 300 years old and is annually held in the 8th lunar month in the Tram Tra Loc ecological tourism area. It is considered to be a festival for farmers who toil in the fields all year around after harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop.

The festival is actually the day of discharge of water into the lake to welcome the new rainy season, and also to clean the environment in the Tram Tra Loc ecological tourism area.

Take a look at some amazing photos, captured by our freelance photographer Nguyen Trinh, to gain an insight into the interesting traditional festival.
