In recent days, artisans in the Mai Vang factory in Dien Minh Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province have been rushing to complete colourful lion heads in preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival which will fall on September 10 this year.

Below are some photos of the traditional craft of making lion heads at the Mai Vang factory which are captured by our freelance photographer Mai Quang Hien.

A large lion head is produced at the Mai Vang factory.

Mr. Mai Van Vang is making a lion head at the request of a customer. The lion head is made of sequin fabric instead of ordinary papers.

Once the lion head frames are done, layers of cloth are glued to them, and the heads are then dried in the sun. After being dried, the heads are transferred to young craftsmen to decorate and finalize.

Hundreds of finished lion heads are seen at the house of Mr. Mai Van Vang, located at 124/2 Tran Thi Ly, Dong Thanh Village, Dien Minh Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province.
