There is an extremely rich biodiversity system along the banks of the Cu De River in Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang. Prominent among them is ‘Chim Trau’ (green bee-eater) species.

May is the nesting and breeding season of this species of birds. With colourful feathers, and pairing habits, they are an endless source of inspiration for many photographers.

The green bee-eater is about 30cm long, including the tail feathers. In particular, ‘chim trau xanh lon’ (Blue-bearded bee-eater) and ‘chim trau dau hung’ (Little green bee-eater) are major species in this area.

These species of birds often hunt for worms, butterflies and other harmful insects for crops, providing protection against attack by pests that damage agriculture.

They contribute to controlling insect pests, and creating a diverse and attractive ecological landscape for the area.

Aside from blue-bearded bee-eaters and ‘little green bee-eaters, there are many other bird species and a rich flora and fauna ecosystem along the both banks of the Cu De River. Therefore, the protection and maintenance of the habitat for these species of birds will ensure the ecological balance and sustainability for the Hoa Bac area.

'Chim Trau' is very attractive thanks to its beautiful plumage.
