Recognising its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga with the aim of raising awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
Yoga is an ancient practice which brings together physical, mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind, ensuring a holistic approach to health. It is a form of exercise that is performed through diet, breathing and physical posture.
Of special note, it creates harmony among people, and moreover, in the context of climate change and increasingly extreme natural disasters, more people realise that they must more in harmony with nature. Yoga helps people get closer, feel and understand nature more.
Yoga Day at APEC Park, once again, helped city dwellers and tourists feel more unique features of Indian civilization as well as its people and land. This event was also a practical activity, significantly contributing to spurring up the widespread development of Yoga.
The widespread popularity of yoga in Viet Nam shows a deep awareness of the great benefits of practicing yoga in this Southeast Asian country and its role in the deep cultural and people connection between Viet Nam and India.
