Traditional boat race celebrates Da Nang's Liberation Day
As part of the celebrations for the 49th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Da Nang, a traditional boat race was held by the People's Committee of Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District on the Han River on Saturday.

Accordingly, the boat race had 16 participating teams with 17 athletes each. The teams competed in three tournaments: open friendly tournament with 4 laps equivalent to 7 km, local professional tournament with 3 laps equivalent to 5 km, and officially open tournament with 6 laps equivalent to 10 km.
In the end, in the officially open tournament, Team Que Phu from Quang Nam Province’s Que Son District won the first prize, Team Trung Luong from Da Nang’s Hoa Xuan Ward took the second prize. The third and consolation prizes went to Team Cam Kim from Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City, and Team Nai Hung 1 from Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang, respectively.
Also, the organisers awarded professional and friendly prizes to outstanding boat teams.
The purpose of the traditional boat race was to pray for peace and good weather conditions through the year, preserve and promote the unique cultural values of Son Tra residents, and introduce the image of the homeland and people of Da Nang to tourists.
