Jubilant open traditional boat race in Cam Le District
On Sunday morning, Cam Le District People's Committee organised the traditional boat race in 2024 to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Da Nang (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2024) and respond to the campaign “All people take exercises following the example of great Uncle Ho”.

The event aimed to promote the traditional cultural values of fishermen, and improve health and sports spirit for all classes of people .
The race attracted 14 boat teams from districts in Da Nang and districts of Thang Binh, Dai Loc and Duy Xuyen in Quang Nam Province.
The participating teams competed in 3 laps equivalent to 4.2km for the Hoa Binh tournament, and 5 laps equivalent to 7km for the official tournament.
From early morning, a large number of people and tourists parked on the banks of the Cam Le River to find the most favorable position to watch and cheer for the competing teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Cam Le District People's Committee Ngo Ngoc Hau said that the traditional boat race was a river sport, associated with traditional festivals of the nation, which have been preserved since ancient times.
"Competing in boat race contributes to cheering and encouraging people, especially in river areas, to enthusiastically practice swimming and rowing boats to have a healthy and flexible body to withstand natural disasters that often occur in the central region," Mr. Hau added.
