Dozens of people residing on Ly Van Phuc Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang, have been cooking Viet Nam’s traditional sticky rice cakes (banh chung, banh tet) to aid those suffering from historic flooding caused by typhoon Yagi in northern localities.

On Tuesday afternoon, a large number of people residing on Ly Van Phuc Street in Ngu Hanh Son District were seen wrapping traditional sticky rice cakes to send to people in northern localities who are suffering from damage due to storms and floods.

According to Mr. Dao Dang Cong Trung, a resident of Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, more than 40 people are wrapping the cakes together. The cake-making fund donated by generous donors has so far been about VND 80 million.

Da Nang people feel the need to supply food to those in need.

'Banh chung' and 'banh tet', filled with the love of Da Nang people, will be immediately sent to affected people in northern localities after being cooked.

The entire fund to buy raw materials has been supported by a number of sponsors. Some people who know how to wrap these cakes will come to support the wrapping and cooking. It is expected that on the afternoon of September 11, the cakes will be transported to the northern provinces.
